Who Cares?

The King of “Saudi Arabia” has arrived in the United States for medical treatment.  The official Saudi Press Agency says the 86-year-old monarch was greeted by Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal and a number of top Saudi officials after landing at New York’s John F. Kennedy airport on Tuesday.   The Servant of Zionism and Imperialism is to be treated for a herniated disc and a blood clot.   Paid mouthpieces for the ruling family have been reassuring everyone that the King is fine, but no explanation was offered as to why the richest oil-producing country in the world the last few decades does not have adequate medical facilities capable of treating the barely-intelligible ruler of the most oppressive regime in the world.

Arab analysts said that even if “Saudi Arabia” did have adequate facilities and personnel, the ruling family prefers the King be treated in a country where they can find atleast a few Arabs and Muslims who actually care about the health of this ignorant and ruthless dictator.  The only few concerned individuals were found outside the Arab world in Washington DC.  As Abdullah was arriving in New York members of the “Arab and Muslim lobby” in the US canceled all their planned events and rushed to a hastily planned, joint-meeting to determine the appropriate course of action.  What occured after that meeting is the following:

Nihad Awad, and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) have cancelled all “interfaith meetings” this week.  They have called on the Muslim community in the US to temporarily stop all efforts aimed at reassuring the American public they are not terrorists, and Islam is a religion of peace.  They also called for a one-week moratorium on the outpouring of gratitude for anyone that recognizes Muslims as human beings.  Instead they have called for a week of prayer for the representative of religious moderation, and the American-designated voice of the Arabs and Muslims.

A visibly distraught James Zogby, who is still mourning the loss of “Shake Soccer” in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been calling the Saudi embassy every hour for an update.  A very concerned Zogby told the embassy staff he was shocked to learn the King’s health has deteriorated to the point of requiring a trip to the US.  Zogby said the news took him by surprise coming just one week after interviewing Prince Turki Al-Feisal and being assured of the King’s improving condition.  Zogby informed the Saudi ambassador that he and his brother have conducted a study based on scientific polling that shows an overwhelming majority of Arabs and Muslims view King Abdullah favorably and are hoping for his speedy recovery.  He also said that upon the embassy’s request they are prepared to call a press conference and release the  data along with a collection of Zogby’s own personal stories and anecdotes inspired by his trips to the Kingdom.

The American-Arab Anti Discrimination Committee (ADC), perhaps the group with the most to lose, has also been thrown into a state of flux.  The ADC contacted the Saudi ambassador to offer its support and let him know the Arab-American community has never been as united as it is at this solemn moment.  The ADC then called on the Arab community in the US to express pride in their heritage by sending flowers to the Saudi embassy.  The ADC also instructed the ten members of its National Board of Directors (which outnumbers their grassroots membership by 2 to 1) to attend a candlelight vigil outside the ADC’s National Headquarters in Washington which was partially paid for by “HRH” Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal.

The American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) is also concerned, but Ziad Asali has not been able to reach Husein Ibish in the UAE, and a press release will have to wait.
