Ikhras Endorses Muntadhar Al-Zaidi

MZaidi“Oh parties of banditry and sectarianism and corruption, we have come and our goal is to destroy you.”

Ikhras formally endorses Muntadhar al-Zaidi, Iraqi journalist and inspiration behind our notorious Shoe-of-the Month Award, for parliament in the upcoming Iraqi elections. Muntadhar Al-Zaidi, the man who hurled both his shoes at U.S. President George W. Bush during a December 2008 press conference in Baghdad, shouting, “this is a farewell kiss from the Iraqi people, you dog” after the first and, “this is for the widows and orphans and all those killed in Iraq” after the second; who threw his shoes at American colonialism, imperialism and occupation; at decades of sanctions which decimated and impoverished Iraqis; at the despotism and tyranny in Iraq and across the region long supported by multiple U.S. presidents; at the Western powers who fueled and stoked the fires of the Iran-Iraq war at the expense of a million lives; at Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, al-Qa’ida, and their ISIS successors – figures and groups who American intelligence agencies in conjunction with the Saudi regime and other Gulf nations viciously unleashed on the country; at the wanton corruption, cronyism and sectarianism of the Maliki government and all Iraqi politicians who lined their pockets with stolen money and fed off the blood of the people; at Blackwater and the imported mercenary forces; at Abu Ghraib and the torture centers established by the occupiers; at the Green Zone and its palaces for the privileged; at the Zionists and their backers that tried to cripple Iraq with their schemes; Muntadhar al-Zaidi, whose shoes spoke for us all, we endorse and salute you.
