Ibish On Irshad Manji & Other Assorted Nuts

Not only has Ibish’s strategy of presenting himself as a defender of Arabs and Muslims by taking on the lunatic fringe failed, it has also contributed to legitimizing the mainstream racists and extremists. It’s Ibish’s friends, collaborators, co-authors, partners in “peace”, and ATFP gala keynote speakers that are most troubling for the Arab and Muslim communities, not Manji and the other assorted nuts.

In his  article on the despicable Irshad Manji, Hussein Ibish, the Senior Fellow at the American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP), the Washington public relations front for the collaborationist Palestinian Authority in occupied Palestine, pointed out the astonishing ignorance and anti-Arab racism inherent in all the writings and appearances of the American cable “news” personality.  In doing so, Ibish appears to be continuing his strategy of attacking openly racist nut jobs to appear as a defender of the Arab and Muslim communities.  In the past Ibish has also taken on other looney characters like Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, Briggitte Gabriel and Walid Shoebat.  His twitter timeline also routinely offers soft criticism of the “extremist” Zionists that oppose his more “moderate” vision for the future Zionism.

Unfortunately for Ibish, the other activities he pursues when he’s not ostensibly defending Arabs and Islam from the ignorant, kooky, and easily condemnable racists like Manji undermine his strategy to appear as a defender of the community standing up to anti-Arab racists and Islamophobes while “lobbying” the US government on behalf of Palestinian rights.

Ibish has co-authored articles with Zionist fanatics like Jeffrey Goldberg and dined with the Israeli Ambassador representing the Zionist Foreign Ministry of Avigdor Lieberman.  Ibish also collaborates with the pro-Israel lobby, including AIPAC, and other racist, Zionist groups. He even “debated” a fanatic colonial-settler from New York who currently lives as an armed squatter in occupied Palestine 67. Ibish has also donned a black-tie tuxedo and offered standing ovations to war criminals like Condoleezza Rice and Tony Blair.

It’s politically non-controversial and too easy to condemn the likes of Manji, Geller, Spencer, Gabriel, and Shoebat. However, none of these run-of-the-mill fanatics on the fringe are as influential as the mainstream fanatics and racists Ibish appears to view as respectable, legitimate figures with views worthy of debate and/or support.  While an ignorant TV personality like Manji can only parrot racist clichés about Palestinians and Arabs, Ibish’s friends at AIPAC, who are no less racist, are a significant factor in the formulation of a militaristic, pro-Israel, anti-Arab US foreign policy.  The Israeli Ambassador Ibish has dined with represents an entity whose foundational ideology represents the very embodiment of the views Spencer and Gabriel promote.  If not for the nature of the International system and the reality of the current distribution of power,  Rice and Blair would have been arrested and put on trial for launching a criminal war that caused the death of over one million Iraqis.

The TV personalities and marginal figures Ibish likes to attack from time to time are more comical than harmful.  They represent a marginal clique active within the news-entertainment industry which, following the mass murder of over 3000 Americans in September of 2011, has found an opportunity to garner main stream media exposure and make a decent living pandering to the worst elements in American political society.
